Prof. Arbee L. P. Chen

Chair Professor of Computer Science and Information Engineering of Asia University

Big data analytics has shown its power in many fields. In this talk, aspects of big data analytics in terms of big data processing and analysis will be addressed, followed by the techniques employed from artificial intelligence and data mining for big data analysis. Moreover, three applications based on my own research will be presented. They are:
1) predicting election results by winning patterns using social media data,
2) profiling user preferences for better customer services via Wi-Fi data analysis, and
3) detecting and predicting diseases by analyzing medical data, social media data, and open data for better healthcare.
Big data are often messy and noisy. Cleaning noisy data is often key to the success of making good use of the big data. A data cleaning approach will be detailed. Finally, we will conclude this talk by looking into the opportunities and challenges for the future big data innovations.

Big data issues are very challenging for most countries, big enterprises and organizations. For example, Indonesia with its 250 million citizens – the biggest social media users in the world, is no exception and is facing difficult problems to manage its big data. Worst of all, this data may grow very quickly, as lots of Indonesian people are having no barriers in accepting big data technology. Hence, some efforts are performed by many of Indonesian governmental agencies and big companies focusing on how to seek previously successful big data applications and perform some re-engineering tasks without understanding the political, cultural, psychological, economic, security, educational, and even technological impacts in the society. Only few Indonesian companies are aware that those impacts can result in habit shifting, motivation and confidence development, productivity, data misuse, better live achievement, and human resource development. Some strategies to gain these results are by introducing gamification and a genealogy feature in big data application. Hence, a social media development which also involves gamification and genealogy feature is currently in progress. Gamification in social media can bring positive behavior to its users, while genealogy feature can strengthen the bond within families. However, many problems arise with the data growing speed such as big data pre-processing, security issue, and sustainability. Thus, several research are started such as NoSQL transformation for big data pre-processing, encryption techniques for security issue, and recommendation, serendipity and geolocation based sentiment analysis for sustainability of the social media. For future research, disruptive technologies such as chat bot, speech-to-text, text-to-speech and brain computer interface are indeed in need.

The term “creative economy” was found in John Howkins’ book on the relationship between creativity and economics (Howkin, 2001). The creative economy is an evolving concept based on creative assets potentially generating economic growth and development (UNTAD. 2004). Creative economy park is a work environment designed with the strategic objective of seeking physical closeness of universities, communities, entrepreneurial centers, incubators, governments and private companies involved in the field of creative economy businesses sharing knowledge and producing commercially viable products. Amikom Creative Economy Park is a creative economy park at University of Amikom Yogyakarta. Amikom Creative Economy Park is a model to develop universities as agents of technology, culture and knowledge transfer, and economic development. Amikom Creative Economy Park as the center of creative economic development that serves as a symbolic achievement of innovation policy of University of Amikom Yogyakarta targeting for innovative cluster is a set of instruments to achieve sustainable development through collaboration among Universities, entrepreneurship centers, research institutes, industries, communities, incubators and governments.

The emergence of Technology as a ubiquitous platform for innovations has laid the foundation for the rapid growth of the Information. The ICITISEE has new history that started on the 1st ICITISEE 2016 in Yogyakarta that attracts more than 76 papers from 8 countries with more than 90 participants.

The purpose of the ICITISEE 2017 is to promote discussion and interaction among academics, researchers and professionals in the field of information and technologies.

The 2nd ICITISEE 2017 (ICITISEE 2017) will be held on 1-3 November 2017 in Sahid Jaya Yogyakarta Hotel & Convention, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

This conference provides an international forum for the presentation and showcase of recent advances on various aspects of ubiquitous technology. It will reflect the state-of-the-art of the methods, involving theory, algorithm, numerical simulation, error and uncertainty analysis and/or novel application of new processing techniques in engineering, science, and other disciplines related to ubiquitous computing. In this conference, several topics on the specific themes for intensive discussions are also planned according to the areas of interest.
